Karatu Villas Lodge

Karatu Villas Lodge is the latest project by proud owner Mr. Kastuli Safari Naali. A member of the local Iraqw tribe, Kastuli has lived in Karatu his entire life. Though passionate about farming, he ventured into hospitality after recognising the demand for comfortable and affordable accommodation in Karatu, given its close proximity to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro.

The lodge sits on the main road of Karatu along the safari route, positioned midway between Lake Manyara National Park and the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area — about 13 km from Ngorongoro's main gate. That central location makes it a practical retreat to unwind before or after a safari.

The villas are arranged in a horseshoe around the large main building. Accommodation boasts spacious bedrooms, each featuring a cosy fireplace and a private patio with comfortable chairs, ideal for relaxing and soaking in the serene surroundings. Choose from twin or king-size beds, with additional beds available if needed, and some rooms can connect to adjoining rooms for larger families or groups.

Each room is thoughtfully appointed with crisp linens, fluffy towels, a writing desk, a reading chair and plenty of luggage space. Modern amenities include large walk-in showers, separate WCs, and personal products in easy-to-use pump jars, plus a small tea and coffee station in every room.

The restaurant and bar open onto an expansive outdoor deck overlooking the pool. Flexible meal plans are offered — bed and breakfast, or lunch and dinner — with a menu built on fresh ingredients sourced from the surrounding farming area and served family-style. The bar carries South African and local Tanzanian wines alongside spirits and cocktails, and safari lunchboxes are available on request for daytime game drives. Lunch runs daily 11:30–18:00 and dinner 18:00–22:00.

Facilities include housekeeping, Wi-Fi and internet, complimentary breakfast, private parking and a swimming pool. A spa is planned but not yet open.

Check-in is from 12:00 and check-out is by 11:00.
